Patricks gun talk and display was just fantastic and a real pleasure to see and learn. Richard O'Sullivans quick but concise lectures were certainly interesting, and gave something to think about. Toms Sword drill instruction,well superb and definately gave me something to think about. Chris's quiz an excellent end to a long day well done to the winning team's. All in all a superb weekend,shared with fantastic company, great comrades,and most importantly the best freinds one could ask for.Each and everyone of us has something to offer in their own way and the quality of that within our respective ranks just cannot be faulted. Thank you once again to all who made the effort. Lets not leave it so long next time. Regards SteveB. Like last year, it is good to just take some time out of the normal run of events to think about some of the theory and discussion behind what we do. I certainly learnt alot. Thanks to all those who participated, and, of course, to Steve who planned it all. Special thanks to Patrick for bringing along part of his collection. Seeing the original guns never fails to give me a tingle down the spine, especially as we are able to handle them - something seems to bridge the void! Thanks. As already said above, it just goes to show that we can all learn a lot and I for one who normally has little interest in firearms, really enjoyed Patrick's wonderful display and talk on the Springfields. Tom's chat on swords was first class and I now feel such a fool for having my sword upside down in one position for far too long. Richard's discussion on some specific drill positions was excellent and certainly thought provoking (now where did I put those books?). As for the quiz, cheers Red, you were a diamond. As Steve said though, a relaxed weekend with great company and a lot of fun. Roll on Bath - oh my God that is soing to be SOOOO good. Keith

There are those who do and those who don't; Steve does!!! Even though the turnout was a bit thin it was an excellent weekend. Saturday was a bit wet but, so you get wet. "They" did and we seek to emulate "Them". I particularly commend Chris O'B for his excellent and entertaining quiz. The level of knowledge it took to create the questions in the short time he did was truly impressive; a star performance!!!! Roll on Bath, it has the promise of a spectacular event, one not to be missed. Patrick

Andy and Mick probably know my quiz patter by heart! Great event! Just goes to show that with 15 up-for-it soldiers, you can get a fabulous worthwhile weekend. The talks and discussions were riveting - we got some drill points sorted out (Hurrah for Emory Upton!) and what a thrill to see and touch Pat's gun collection again. I still think the 1842 musket rules even after caressing those contract 1861 model rifles.... Thanks to Steve, Rich and Tom, the Public displays were well, SLICK! Well done everyone and a big thanks to Eddie, Martin and Nods for the great laugh Saturday night - I'm still chuckling remembering it.. Go again Sir? You bet! Bath is going to be a doooozy, but there's good times ahead at Laredo, Cliveden and Widley before that.. Nobby

Now if someone can arrange that great tap in the sky... it'd be perfect. (Ref nobby compiling a quiz from memory in 40 mins or less - no probs when you have 1/2 a bottle of cockburns to help you think!) He's going to spend a year trying to come up with a doosy decider - that'll make him scratch his head. Thanks to all, and to those who didn't make it... it wasn't THAT wet. Andy.
