Although a short event in a far from perfect setting, it certainly worked as a "one-dayer" and was good to see other groups in action and to finally wear the blue again! Also good to see Eric and Anne. I look forward to seeing the pics that were taken. We were on parade first and some of us not quite up to scratch - ahem: "Company, Left, no right,... no left Wheel!" (Wheeley by name....) nonetheless, you all executed the order I intended -- thank God for NCOs! Despite this, it apparently looked very smooth and precise (tarmac and music help alot!). As the day went on we were certainly on top form for the march past and looked great in full marching order. The greatest compliment was from one of the NAM historians who watched us and said that we were the best performance, and whilst others seemed like guys in costume, we operated as a "real" unit. Roll on Hill Plantation! We'll try and sort some scenario specific details for this Western Cornfed impression. With an 'Huzzah!' Yours, Tom

Great to meet up with some good friends and to welcome back Kingsley to the fold. Dissapointed that the hard tack van used soft bread to wrap round the beef but the home-made ice cream made up for it ;-) Miss Kim tried to get a tin-type of Nobby enjoying the wares but he was too quick for the shutter (there's a first). Just great to enjoy the banter with the boys, especially the everlasting clay pipes and the Mass Bicycle Bell Band - really funny Chris. A lot of people came an awful long way for this one including dear Erick and Anne all the way from France and you can see why. Great day. Roll on next year. A terrible pity we were not 'ensemble', 'zusammen', 'together'. It seems to be the way this year. We have the same thing happeniing on July 4th, with folks in the USA and Ireland, and in Munster where some will be doing Confederate and some Federal. We must communicate better for next season. And we must all be prepared to travel further afield for the good events. As to the Aldershot Display, once again it proved to be a great little show. We received high praise indeed from folks 'in the know' and that is always good for the ego! Thanks must go to Tom for another fabulous display out front - take a look at the pix, he's stepped out of the 1860's. Thanks to Richard - sorry I bottled out of doing the commentary mate, but as usual, you did a fine job. Not much knowledge of the Federal side of things, my arse! Well done to one and all for turning up for what is really just a one-day show. I had a great time - even though I look miserable as sin in the pix! It was great to see all the ladies there - as I was saying, the more members of the fairer sex we have on show can only increase our recruitment potential! Great to see Flux back again - we've missed you mate and yes, we'll cut out the 'pint in town' bit next time! Now, on to Ireland/Gettysburg and a rip-roaring Western Cornfed turnout at the Hill Plantation in July! Nobby
