Martyn,
Although I can't be certain I believe it was the much-missed Steve. If, as Chris O'B says, it takes a local person to apply, may our French friends count on you? Patrick |

Mac,
About arriving in the night on Thursday, I'm sure that the Museum will not allow us to occupy the site until early in the afternoon on Friday. If others have better information please assist. Patrick |

Hi Mac, I'm not sure who advised you to arrive on Thursday because as far as we know arrivals at the American Museum are limited to Friday afternoon -- but
we are enquiring whether we can make special arrangements for you. I think the best option however, would be for those of you arriving on Thursday to simply
book into a cheap motel for the Thursday night. More importantly, there seems to have been total confusion on this side of the channel with regard to your
firearms and explosives permits. I am trying to work out exactly what the situation is. Has anyone contacted you about these? Asked your details? Confirmed
that they have been granted? PLEASE let me know what the situation is as soon as possible or we may have some problems. Kind regards, Tom Wheeley

Hi Martyn, I'm afraid you need an acquire and keep licence to be a sponsor. Keith has kindly taken up the gauntlet. Thanks for the offer though Martyn. Tom

Hi Mac
If you have booked your travel to come Thursday there is a possibility that I can put you up at my place. If I cannot fit you all in I am sure that gareth can accomodate some as well. What Port are you entering by, and what time will you be arriving? I live in Bournemouth, Dorset. Vince |

Hopefully this answers all the points raised; I will in the meantime look at the newer legislation, and ask NARES for a view. Dave Hall NARES Representative. I only concentrate on the parts of the bill which are relevant to our period, and obviously, this only applies to England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scottish Law may be different. What is Re-Enactment? For the purposes of the bill, "Historical Re-enactment" is defined in Section 33 clause 6 as; "historical re-enactment" means any presentation or other event held for the purpose of re-enacting an event from the past or of illustrating conduct from a particular time or period in the past. For the purposes of the bill, "the past" means chronologically, any time before now. The test that is applied to prove that the re-enactment is bona-fide is that the event organisers/participants hold 3rd party Public Liability Insurance evidenced by a photo-id issued by the insured society. It was suggested that a statement should be included on membership cards that the society carry said PLI. Nobby
