I think the plan is for Soskan members to go in uniform, white gloves if you have them.As a unit I think would be the better option, but lets wait and see what others are planning. I believe there will be a volley fired at his final resting place, and he will be carried from the hearse by a gun carriage. Please could you post your intentions here so we can at least co-ordinate ourselves. Regards SteveB. Would like to participate in the firing salute but I am not sure if they have got permission yet? This will be a huge turn-out as of course it should be. This will be one of the hardest funerals I have ever been to but Billy deserves us all being there. God bless him.

In the 10 years or more( i've forgot when i did join?) i've been with sosken, i been to a quite a few events, not so many in the last 3 years or so, but when ever i do , billy has always remembered me and always took time to talk, a great guy, he will be missed by all, and will aways be remembered. Flux.

Never really one of the crowd, most often in awe of him, and only really speaking when spoken to, but having "known" him since 1972, albeit at a great distance. I'll still miss the man, a face appearing at a far flung event, be it UK or USA. Alway knowing your name, and always with SOSKAN at the top of his agenda. I didn't know him well but I know enough to say that soskan will be poorer for his passing. Condolances to his family and those who will miss him most. Andy.

Onto A124 (Barking Road) heading west. After 3miles - turn right @ McDonalds (Hermit Rd). Cemetery on left past park. From South M25, A2, Blackwall Tunnell, onto A13 heading east, follow signs for Woolwich Ferry (A1011), down sliproad to roundabout, onto A124 (Barking Road). After 1/4 mile - turn left @ McDonalds. Cemetery on left past park. From East M25, A12 or A13, onto A406 (Nth Circ). A124 (Barking Road) heading west. After 3 miles - turn right @ McDonalds. Cemetery on left past park. London Underground District Line: Plaistow, or Jubilee Line: West Ham Cemetery 5-10 minute walk (directions at both stations) Trains Silverlink or C2C: West Ham station Bus No.69 stops outside Cemetery gates. Bills coffin will be transported on a gun carriage from the funeral directors at 14.00 hrs. The distance is around one mile. It will need 28 people to help pull this, and volunteers will be sorted from his friends that are able to be at the Cemetery early. Everyone else will able to take a place in the column and march with the carriage. Their will also be a salute fired during the service, and anyone that would like to participate in this is most welcome, you will be able to march with your muskets. All this will need coordinating, and some practice will be needed. You will be issued a round to fire, and shown the honour guard drill and when to fire the salute etc, plus the people that will be on the gun carriage will need to be placed in their positions etc. It is proposed to meet at the cemetery at 12.00 hrs so that everyone is spot on and aware of what they should be doing. We will need as many people to participate in all this as possible. It will be a great honour. We want Bill to be proud of us all. Roy Daines.
