I really don't think that this is going to affect historical reenactment societies as we are operate under the umbrella of Police control. We are all registered black powder weapons users, and every year we update our continued co-operation with our respective local authorities through our annual application to Accquire and use/keep explosives certificates. So we are a known quantity and operate within tried and proven HSE guidelines. We do not walk into banks toting replica or real machine pistols or other such automatic weapons to the best of my knowledge. Imagine the farce of holding up a bank with an Enfield or Springfield - especially if the teller notices that you've forgotten to put the percussion cap on!
The real problem is all the realistic replica AK47's and M16's, UZI's and other automatic street cannons that are out there - not to mention the real thing which is readily available either legally or illegally. It's those sources that need shutting down. Every day now the newspapers report another killing - usually of young people, through either gun or knife crime. This is the focus area that should be concentrated on, not historical reenactors who live and abide within the confines of the law. Grits aka Richard Brand |
