Dear Colleague in Living History
Following on from the wonderful and memorable success of last year, >> we at the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh, Co.Tyrone, Northern Ireland extend an invitation to our American Civil War re-enacting friends throughout Europe to attend another landmark event at the museum.
In order to carry out the necessary preparations we believe that Wednesday 2nd July is the ideal day to arrive and spend time preparing for the thousands of visitors who will attend this 3 day public event. I would imagine that our contributors would be departing on Monday 7th July in the knowledge that they have participated in a programme which is quite unique, fun-filled and memorable for all the right reasons. Our visitor base, numbering people in their thousands, has come to recognise the museum as a fantastic location to explore in much detail, 19th century American history and this would not have been possible without your valued commitment and professionalism over the years.
We would intend providing the following:
* Return flights to Northern Ireland from UK and other European airports [up to a maximum of £100GBP per person]
* Ground transportation from & to airport[s] in Northern Ireland
* Provision of cooked breakfast, ingredients for the cooking of food on the historical site & evening meal for the duration of the event.
* Supply of modern day tents, sleeping bags & toilet facilities
* Use of showers & provision of laundry service.
* Discount offers on accommodation in the Museum's Residential Centre
I believe that like last year if the museum purchased flights directly we could access significant price discounts therefore using the model of past visits by other groups of re-enactors I ask you to consider collating the details of those travelling and pass them onto myself in order that I can make the booking[s]. It will not be possible for all re-enactors to arrive and depart on the same dates and from the same airports however I would appreciate it if someone would please take on the task of collating names, dates, airport preferences etc in order that we can make a good attempt at identifying common requests which can result in maximising group bookings. Obviously this will not suit some people and we will make every attempt to accommodate individual schedules as best we can. We value your contribution to the event very much and do want to see you here in July!!
All I require are the names of those travelling, as their names appear on passports, dates of travel and their departure and arrival
airports.
Time is marching on so if you are up for a wonderful few days to remember this summer contact me as soon as possible. I would like to book flights very soon!
Thank you & Good Luck
Richard
Here we go again then - I notice the Park has cut back a day - it's only Wednesday to Sunday this year. Still, that gives us plenty of time for drill,
drill, drill etc.
Well, I guess I'll be taking the van, so the bigger stuff and some of the weapons can go that way.
So we are looking at folk booking flights to arrive in Belfast for Wednesday afternoon 2nd July and returning on Sunday night July 6th or Monday morning July
7th.
Get on it boys!
Nobby
