The myth of Custers last stand is apparantly crud. It was one big rout in my opinion, He strikes me as being a dandy, but also a daredevil. Arrogance rather than courage....(Stubborn git<--thats for Nobby )

I saw a picture of him as a cadet in 1861 holding a small revolver and to be honest he looks scared.

Yes, Custer never came up against western cavalry. Even ole (shooter before tooters) Hill paid Forrest the greatest of compliments at Chickamauga when troops came up on his flank, he said, who's infantry are these? They sir are Forrest's cavalry.

In the world of Civil War fantasy and "what ifs" consider the following: Forrest against Custer!!!! No contest as far as I'm concerned; Nate would have whipped him before breakfast.

And where did 'Fanny' come from in this instance, sounds intriguing. Fanny in US is 'arse' I believe, so maybe there's something there. - Must be all that horse riding.
