Agreat re-enacting dog if ever there was one. How she ever survived being thrown 12' by one of those oxen at BGR I'll never know, but at that event I am told she gave them a wide berth.
I think two major lessons we learned from this event is that we are still packing too heavy over here. We knew we were going to be carrying our gear over x amount of miles for days, not just from the car to the camp, and packed accordingly so we only had the bare essentials needed to survive. Something we could easily address.
The other and something we have been looking at addressing for sometime is the amount of food we carry with us here.We were actually throwing food away over there...

Now we're home it seem as if the event lasted just a few hours!!!!! I'm still too exhausted to write a cogent report; simply to say that it was THE most fantastic civil war event I've ever participated in. It fullfilled and then exceeded all my expectations and I doubt that the future will hold, at least for me, an opportunity to get as close as we did to "being there". Among many, the one memorable experience for me was that when, without warning, the Yankee muskets started...

Guys, this post is from the AC forum and I felt just about summed it up.

BGR was an honest event. What do I mean by that? Unlike some living history or mainstream events, it was a true campaigner event. You took everything you needed or didn't to the field. There was no skulking back to the car for a second blanket, no sneak off trips to the restaurants, no fresh TP and flush toilet on the trail.
No big sutlers to resupply your losses. No savory food vendors either.

So this...
