I've never seen them before, I always thought Confederates had eagle style buttons or the 'I' style.He was eastern, and not an officer..just a private.  ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ Stu, I believe I'm correct in saying that the predominence of state buttons on many surviving examples is due to them being sewn on post-war, rather than being a feature of the items at time of issue.<br><br>If you're looking for Block I or federal Eagle buttons I think Hannover Brass in the states do good reproductions.<br><br>Chris<br> ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Oh no I was just asking out of interest.<br><br>It's just i've never seen any 'reenactors' wearing buttons like that.<br><br>I do need to get some 'I' buttons for my CD jacket but apart from them and the eagle ones thats all i've really seen. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Stu you really need to upgrade your research sources.<br>Va State buttons were issued to virginia troops same as South Carolina Buttons went to South Carolina troops and so on and so forth, these State Buttons stem back to the Militia days.<br>As the war progressed these state issues became less and less available , although quite a few did keep at least one state button for their uniforms, but not everybody.<br>The Eagle button was actually a Federal Issue button, but as the South had large... ]]></description>
