As for sides I am more than happy to do both but I fear my allegances..deep allegances lie with the confederacy, I cant rightly give a reason and I know it's going to sound daft but I just have a feeling that, that is the side for me...

I also fear that if I was serving back then I would have taken a nice federal sack coat rather than them shell jackets.

The ACW is my fav. period of history too, though having drunk deep at the well of re-enacting it for about 8 years, I'm not as thirsty as I was and you still are.

Funny how we pick sides. Some don't care others swap, and others are drawn strongly to one side or t'other.
I'm for Lincoln & Liberty myself. The Union being the last, best hope for mankind, blah, blah, blah.

However, depending on the impression and the year of the war, certain Army of the Potomac units may well have worn hat brass.

Very, very rare that any Western unit wore brass. But there are exceptions.

For a generic impression, which is what we undertake 90% of the time, Hat Brass is OUT!

Check out the guidelines on the main VC site and use these to base your impression on - concentrate on the big picture for starters, trousers, jacket, hats are important and can really make an impression.

Forgive me for bringing this up but on G&G when the Irish georgian's fired down into the Irish brigade I notice the cornfed's have a lot of the Irish harp hat brass all over them!?

Literally some on jackets..some on hats and was wondereing, is it possibly (depending on what scenario it is) to have a hat badge like this?

My gran has a brass Irish harp which she wanted from the states for decoration that she'd let me use.
